Who am I?

Travis Schanafelt is an adventurer, traveler and photographer who founded Safari Pacific (Adventure Outfitters) and Maori Expeditions (Adventure and Exploration). At the age of 24, Travis has visited many places within the United States of America, encompassing over one-third of the states. Outside his home country he has traveled to Canada and Mexico multiple times. In mid 2007 Travis departed on a solo journey through North America covering over 22,000 miles in ten weeks. Stretching from the southernmost point in the continental US to the northernmost drivable point in the US, he has experienced many places. Travis' next big adventure will span over one year crossing the globe and over 50,000 miles.

Autobiography

Born in Fontana, California on December 6, 1983, Travis' family moved to Riverside, California, where he spent his early childhood. With Southern California being a mecca for adventure and his family being avid campers and off-roaders he was exposed to exploration at a young age. In November 1994, moving once again to Mesa, Arizona he began to collect National Geographic Magazines which fueled his passion for travel and photography. Once his family settled, they began to travel in and around Arizona.

Travis purchased a truck from his Father's boss at the age of 16, which was a 1993 Ford Ranger. He began to travel solo with the Ranger into Arizona's back country. Just shy of two years afterwards he flipped the truck and demolished it. In the accident he hit is head, which made him loopy. Regardless of missing a few marbles, Travis rebuilt the truck. Afterwards, he started rock climbing as well as continued off highway exploring.

In 2002, Travis graduated from Dobson High School and entered into the work world. Not being a stranger to entrepreneurship, as he has started many small businesses in various fields since the age of 13. In late 2003, after attending Collins College for Visual Communications, Travis started a web development and graphic design firm, currently known as North Peak Graphics.

After three years of operating the business, he began to focus on his past travels and experiences. While continuing to run his design firm he started a second organization called Maori Expeditions. This new business was established to promote travel and exploration and teach the average Joe how to travel off highway safely. With the formation of the adventure business, Travis has build a new expedition vehicle based on a 2001 Ford Ranger.

During Travis' adventure across North America in 2007 he began to develop the idea for a clothing and gear supply store. As time past the idea grew into reality. Early 2008 Safari Pacific was founded to support other travelers and explorers with the equipment needed for their expeditions.

My Goals and Where I'm headed

I simply want to see and experience it all, the world and it's people. I've compiled a list of items I would like to achieve before my time on this earth is over. Currently I'm starting to plan my drive around the world.
